AI translation helps, but the booking responsibility remains yours

On Japanese rental-car booking pages, the risky parts are usually not the vehicle name. They are insurance, deductibles, cancellation fees, ETC, return time, fuel rules, one-way return fees, and accident procedures. AI translation can help you understand the page, but it cannot confirm the contract for you.

Use AI for the first reading. Ask it to divide the page into vehicle, price, coverage, options, pickup and return, and cancellation rules. Then go back to the original page before payment.

Items humans must check

First, check driving eligibility. License rules differ by country and region. Do not rely only on machine translation. Second, check coverage: basic insurance, deductible waiver, non-operation charge, tires, glass, towing, and emergency contact procedure.

Third, check fee rules. When does the cancellation fee start? What happens if you are late? Is one-way return extra? Are ETC card rental, child seats, winter tires, or extensions charged separately? Fourth, check return rules such as full-tank return, opening hours, and after-hours return.

How AI can organize the page

Instead of asking for a full translation only, ask AI to produce three columns: confirmed, must be checked by a human, and possible extra cost. This makes risk items easier to see.

For screenshots, use OCR or image translation as support, but always compare prices, dates, and times with the original image. Words such as “separate,” “not included,” “except,” “may apply,” and “partially” deserve extra attention.

Prepare short questions for the shop

If AI finds unclear points, turn them into short questions: Is deductible waiver included? Has the child seat been added? If the flight is delayed, how long is the vehicle held? Is one-way return charged separately?

Do not send only a screenshot and ask what it means. Questions that can be answered with yes, no, or a specific amount are easier for the shop to handle.

AI lowers the language barrier. It does not remove the need to understand responsibility, fees, and exceptions before booking.
